When I first met Melissa and Ben, it was like having a conversation with old friends. Melissa grew up in Massachusetts and we quickly bonded over the fact that she grew up close to my dad's hometown, Seekonk, Massachusetts. We chatted about their love story, how online dating led to a date, which led to more dates, which led to a blooming relationship, which brought with it a house and a proposal. We discussed future wedding plans and scheduled their engagement session in Annapolis.

Because Ben works with the University of Maryland, he designed a customized jersey with the words "marry me?" embroidered on the back. The jersey, prominently displayed at the wedding, became a beautiful reminder of their journey from online dating to their gorgeous wedding day.

While capturing bridal portraits on the golf course, a nearby house adjacent to the grounds was holding a pool party. When the group noticed Ben and Melissa, they quickly changed the music to Bruno Mar's "Marry You" and a succession of cheers sounded from the pool. We laughed, cheered back, and continued on with portraits. Suddenly, we hear a voice call out to us and as we turned, two guys approach with red solo cups and Fireball in hand. They ask to have the first shot with the new Mr. and Mrs. and we all toasted to Ben and Melissa. It was an impromptu moment that we are still laughing about !
Speeches and Emotional Moments
One thing about Ben is he is a huge fan of WWE. In honor of this, Melissa selected to have the entire bridal party be introduced to WWE theme music. When Ben and Melissa were introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs., guests stood up and waved their napkins and cheered. Everyone was laughing and partaking in the joy!
As the reception unfolded, the matron of honor, Melissa's sister, took the stage, delivering a speech that moved everyone present. With heartfelt words and tears of joy, she painted a vivid picture of Ben and Melissa's love story as well as her deep relationship with her sister. With the help of their incredible hype squad, Ben and Melissa created an electric atmosphere that had guests of all ages grooving to the beat. The music, carefully selected to reflect their tastes and personalities, filled the space with infectious energy. At one point, one of Melissa's cousins dashed into the kitchen to request spatula's. Melissa explained that growing up, whenever someone was singing around the house, their mother would hand them a spatula as a makeshift microphone. It was sweet to see this tradition spontaneously be included during the dancing. Laughter, smiles, and uninhibited dance moves made it a night to remember.
